Leigh Perry started working at Dorridge Music Centre aged 17 whilst touring the country as a Concert Organist. After being asked to take over the tuition of the existing 25 pupils, she then had the opportunity of taking over the business. The emphasis was shifted from shop to school and the company name changed to 'Dorridge Music School'.
Student numbers increased to around 200 pupils, learning mainly electronic organ and keyboards. Three years ago Dorridge Music School became an Examination Centre for the ‘London College of Music’ and has adopted the LCM accredited course books.
Many teachers have joined the school since, all professional musicians themselves. Some are currently studying performance and teaching degrees at Birmingham Conservatoire. Others have gained their teaching degrees at university whilst other members of the team have backgrounds in performing via bands, as concert artists with experience in recording, and working as session musicians.
All of these teachers’ talents combine to give the school the opportunity of teaching a whole range of musical skills, taking pupils (3yrs - adults) from beginners to Diploma or simply teaching those who want ‘music as pleasure’. There is a high achievement record at examination sessions held three times a year on the premises. For more information please follow the 'Exam Results' link.
